Overview:

Selecting an appropriate hosting plan will depend on a few factors like the type of your WordPress website, its size and the expected traffic volume on the website. And most importantly How much freedom you expect when buying a Hosting Plan for your WordPress website.

What is Hosting, and what are Hosting Plan Types?

Now for Beginners, it’s important to understand a little bit about hosting, so that they have at least a basic idea of what they are going to purchase.

So Let’s Understand first What is Hosting? – Now everybody can easily guess that Hosting is a place where we host our website, but it’s more than that. Hosting is like another CPU, it has its RAM, Hard Disk (SSD too in some cases), Processing Power and Speed, Operating System, and Databases, etc. So, much better the hosting is much better and more smooth the website runs.

Hosting Plan Types – Shared Hosting, WordPress Hosting, VPS Hosting, and Dedicated Servers. Each hosting plan type has its own different pricing (3 in most of the cases). Like Basic, Medium, Large, etc… (You understand that!)

Important Note:

Important Note (Multiple WordPress Websites) – If you plan to host multiple WordPress websites then avoid purchasing WordPress Hosting Plan Types. Go for either the shared hosting, or VPS hosting, or Dedicated Ones.

Selecting the right hosting plan for a WordPress Website:

(1) Hosting Plan For a Light and Simple WordPress Website with normal Traffic Volume – If the website is going to have not more than 10 – 20 pages pr less number of blog posts then it falls in the category of simple and light WordPress websites, for such a website, go for the plan that provides at least :

  • 5-30 GB Disk Space
  • Unlimited Bandwith (Traffic Volume)
  • Cpanel + Database + Phpmyadmin + SSL (In case of Shared/VPS/Dedicated)
  • Pricing for such a plan might range between $2 to $10 a month.

Websites for small businesses and professionals do fall in this category.

(2) Hosting Plan for a Medium Size Website with a fine volume of Traffic – Small Size E-commerce websites, medium size blogs, and websites with a medium number of pages (50+), products, blog posts or media fall in that section. For such a website, go for a plan that provides

  • 50-60 GB Disk Space
  • Unlimited Bandwith (Traffic Volume)
  • Cpanel + Database + Phpmyadmin + SSL (In case of Shared/VPS/Dedicated)
  • 500 MB to 1 GB RAM, 1 CPU Processing Power, SSD type Storage (optional)
  • Pricing for such a plan might range between $10 to $25 a month.

(3) Hosting Plan for a Large Size WordPress Website with a heavy Traffic Volume – Medium Size E-commerce websites, blogs, and websites with a large number of pages (200+), products, blog posts or media fall in that section. For such a website, go for a plan that provides

  • 60+ GB Disk Space
  • Unlimited Bandwith (Traffic Volume)
  • Cpanel + Database + Phpmyadmin + SSL (In case of Shared/VPS/Dedicated)
  • 2-4 GB RAM, 2 CPUs Processing Power, SSD type Storage (optional)
  • Pricing for such a plan might range between $25 to $35 a month.

(4) Hosting Plan for an Extra Large Size WordPress Website with a heavy Traffic Volume – Large Size E-commerce websites, big blogs, and news media sites, and websites with a large number of pages (500-1000+), products, blog posts or media fall in that section. Now, this is a stopping point for WordPress Hosting and Shared Hosting Plans, and you need to go for a VPS or Dedicated Hosting Plan. For such a website, go for a plan that provides

  • 120+ GB or More Disk Space
  • Unlimited Bandwith (Traffic Volume)
  • Cpanel + Database + Phpmyadmin + SSL (In case VPS/Dedicated)
  • 4-6-8 GB RAM, 2-4 CPUs Processing Power, SSD type Storage (optional)
  • Pricing for such a plan might range between $35 to $95 and more a month

(5) Hosting Plans Customized as per the specific needs of a WordPress Website – Hosting providers can also avail more customized and heavy pricing plans for very big size WordPress websites. So there is no limit to that! So if you think that your WordPress Website has a very big scope in the future and you need a more specific plan customized to your own needs than you always have the option to talk to Hosting Company and ask for such a plan.

Conclusive Remarks:

What I personally think, one must make a very intuitive decision while choosing a hosting plan for WordPress website, and consider that budget also does play an important role in that, so if you are a starter with a shortage of funds then you should go for normal plans, compare the prices of different hosting provider along with the reviews about them, and then choose the best. And if you are more than a starter and have funds, then you must look for better hosting with almost a zero percent possibility of flaws, and that way site rankings will boost up, site performance will be good and chances for higher profits will increase more. Good Luck!!
